Melechesh

In honor of MDF2010, we here at Poonangular are droppin' albums from some of this year's performers left and right... So throughout April and May keep an eye out for some br00tal albums (says the guy who just did a deftones megapost). Here we have Melechesh and excerpt from Wikipedia.

"Melechesh is a melodic black metal band that originated in Jerusalem. Ashmedi started the band as a solo project in 1993. In the following year, guitarist Moloch and drummer Lord Curse were added to the line-up. The band’s goal was to create a type of black metal incorporating extensive Middle Eastern influences mainly based on Mesopotamian/Sumerian and occult  themes (both musically and lyrically); the band invented the title "Mesopotamian Metal" to best describe their type of metal."

Mesopotamian Metal? Holy Fuck! You'll get it once you listen to it. It is indeed a fierce listen and quite an enjoyable one at that. This is their most resent release from 2006, "Emissaires" and probably their best in my opinion. So go ahead and check this awesome record because I can't wait to see these guys live!
