Affliction Gate are a great Death Metal band from France (not too many of those). This album came across my screen a few weeks ago and I fell in love with it. Enough of the br00tal death metal shit, this is classic Death Metal with a mordern edge and creativity unsee in the genre now-a-days. Fans of Unleashed, Bolt Thrower, Grave, Morgoth, and Massacre will love this. Though this bad boy came out in 2009 it's definitely worth your time. Enjoy!

Vanhelgd are from Sweden and play Old School Swedish Death Metal. This is some filthy unique stuff here... Basically we know that every band is attempting to capture the Old School Swedish sound, but only a few can pull it off. Scaremaker

So Billy Nocera, creator and owner of Razorback Records decides to join his wife, Vanessa Nocera in creating their own band... with help from Elektrokutioner, drummer from Decrepitaph. This is a fresh take on old school death metal done the old school way. A majority of the song writing, including lyrics are done by Vanessa as she shred's the guitar as well as bass and even some backing vocals on a few tracks. Billy takes care of the main vocal duties. The couple that shreds together stays together! So yeah, awesome stuff like always from Razorback. Crucifist

So Circle of Dead Children can't make it to Maryland Death Fest this year due to their drummer not being able to make it. So they've been replaced by Crucifist! They're from Rochester, New York and play a mix of thrashy-old school-blackened-metal with some of the coolest vocals I've heard in a while. I feel like the crypt keeper or some zombie ghost is doing the vocals. Very different stuff here that will appease fans of thrash and old school death metal and black metal. New Shit! New Shit! New Shit!

So it's been 2 1/2 months into 2010 and some albums of pure awesomeness are already starting to pour in from the kick ass rivers of music. So here's 2 new albums, one just came out and the other is about to come out.

First up we have BLACK BREATH. This band is from Seattle and even though Seattle is known for depression, this band is definitely not depressed... they're fucking ANGRY! Black Breath play a mix of metal, hardcore, thrash, death metal (all old school versions of) in a crusty kinda way. This album is packed with riffs and Black Breath definitely surpassed their previous ep, "Razor To Oblivion" on this one. Solo's going off, circle pit educing riffage, and pissed as hell vocals all combine together to make one hell of a record. So do enjoy... highly recommended. Definitely can't wait to catch these guys at Maryland Death Fest this year.

Lastly, we have Negură Bunget from Romania. Scary band name, scary album cover, scary Romanian language = scary album. This album is awesome black metal done in a unique way... with a lot of different instruments and tons of progressive ideas. Negură Bunget have put out an album that is purely amazing and it definitely delivers. I doubt anyone can walk away from this album not thinking what they just heard was amazing. So enjoy this one, definitely worth a download even if you're not a huge black metal fan. Romanian Progressive Folk-Post-Black Metal? j/k
