Black Sleep of Kali

Black Sleep of Kali hail from Denver, Colorado. They play Stoner Doom Sludge Metal in the vein of such acts like Torche, High On Fire, Baroness, and Mastodon. I know that every "heavy" band that comes out today gets those sort of comparisons. However, Black Sleep of Kali bring a breath of fresh air to the genre. "Our Slow Decay" brings the catchy style of Torche with the riffs of High On Fire. Some songs even remind me of the Foo Fighters on steroids (torche has received the same comparison, i know) That's probably the best way to describe it without getting too generic. Basically, if you like any of the bands mentioned above, you'll most likely enjoy this record. Also, if you're tired of this genre, this will be your one exception. It's definitely worth a listen and trust me fruit loop, you won't be disappointed. Then when you're done, stop by their myspace and purchase their record (using the above links). Enjoy!

Blackened Southern Groove Metal? Fuck Yeah! Inter Arma are from Richmond, VA (va baby!) and play just what has been described but 10 times more shredtastically. This is probably one of my favorite listens as of late, fucking heavy, doomy, riffy, blackened metal from VA! I definitely encourage you to download this record and check out their myspace or Forcefield Records and buy their album like I did! This is their debut full length, "Sundown" and we here at Poonangublog have added their demo to it as well. So enjoy!

A Boris Album I Like?

When Boris takes a break from doing pointless drone records with Sun O))) they actually come together and play some cool tunes... this time it's a disappointingly short ep with The Cult lead singer, Ian Astbury. I wish this record was longer because this collaboration is pretty fucking sweet and Boris' riff heavy rock mixes very with with Ian's vocals. Enjoy!

A Day's Refrain

Another awesome screamy hardcore indie band I was into back in good ol' 2002 (i was only 17). This was probably one of my favorite releases. This band does a little bit of everything. I'd go as far as to call it an indie/grindcore hybrid with scremo and hardcore tendencies. They broke up in the same year as this release and even did splits with Neil Perry, Barstow, and The Assistant. Enjoy!

To Bring Our Own End

This use to be my jam back in '02. I couldn't get enough of these screamy hardcore bands or maybe screamo.... somewhere in-between I guess. I still get a kick out of people think bands like Poison The Well and Thursday play screamo... what dummies, lol. I loved bands like Neil Perry, The Now, Hot Cross, Saetia, A Day's Refrain, etc. Anyways, this is Joshua Fit For Battle and they play mosh inducing screamy hardcore, enjoy!

Dax Riggs (acid bath, agents of oblivion, deadboy and the elephantmen) returns with his 2nd solo full length (yes there's 3 but one of those is technically a deadboy and the elephantmen album).
