Morne is a slightly Progressive Sludge band from Chicago. Adding elements of keyboards to their already apocalyptic heavy sound creates quite the atmosphere to go along with their wall crumbling riffs. Longer songs than their previous effort make this quite an enjoyable listen for any fan of Sludge, Doom, and surprisingly Hardcore. Enjoy!

Birds In Row are a Chaotic Hardcore band from France and kinda remind me of a mix of old Suicide Note and old Kylesa (self-titled era) with a dash of The Hope Conspiracy. This emotionally powered group definitely stick out among Hardcore today with this punch in the face and leave you crying album. Definitely worth a download for those of you longing for the days of when Emotional Hardcore was cool!

Alpinist hail from Münster, Germany and play Dark Crusty Hardcore. Fans of Grind will definitely dig this... this band is fast, pissed off, and heavy. Another awesome screamy hardcore indie band I was into back in good ol' 2002 (i was only 17). This was probably one of my favorite releases. This band does a little bit of everything. I'd go as far as to call it an indie/grindcore hybrid with scremo and hardcore tendencies. They broke up in the same year as this release and even did splits with Neil Perry, Barstow, and The Assistant. Enjoy!

Curlupanddie (not the salon)

Sadly disbanded in 2005, Curlupanddie were probably my favorite band ever. Anyways, it's brootal technical hardcore digital metal with vocals you can't understand and even more complicated lyrics that don't belong in such a vocal styling. The song titles are long and silly and I'm not typing them all. Fuck it, but do check out this solid record produced by none other than Kurt Ballou. Enjoy.

Hardcore Usually Sucks

This is another one of my favorite albums from the past. I usually don't go for simple hardcore bands, but this band takes hardcore to the next level. The riffs on this album are reason enough to download it. It's heavy, it's angry, it's fucking awesome. The Hope Conspiracy, a band that I have yet to see live and would most likely go see if they ever came to town. Anyways, check out this awesome album.

Political Hardcore Punk Metal!?!?

It seems that I'm posting some old favorites here lately (that pg.99 post). This is another awesome band from Virginia. They play a hardcore punk metal mix that's just great. For a three piece this band is incredibly loud and luckily I was able to catch them live back in '03 before they split up (I think they're split up). Anyways, if you like Pg.99, you'll love these guys even though this band is a little more instrumental at times. Enjoy.
