Ancient Torture

Coffins are from Japan and play a mixture of Doom and Death Metal. A real slow paced, chugging, fuzzed out take on Death Metal is something Coffins have really mastered over the years. Putting out over 10 different splits (wit bands like mala suerte, lobotomized, otesanek, cianide, anatomia, warhead, xxx maniak, the arm and sword of a bastard god, spun in darkness, and skullhog) has made obtaining some of their material quite hard for newcomers to the band. So faster than you could say "Purgatorial Madness", the band puts out a double disc collection of split releases, compilation and vinyl only tracks. Nearly two hours of evil Death Doom, enjoy!

Glassjaw are from Long Island, New York and are forefathers of the Emotional Hardcore/Post-Hardcore genre that is so popular and filled with numerous faceless acts today. They have had legal trouble with Roadrunner Records, been signed to Warner Brothers Records, which is now taking over Roadrunner Records (i believe). The band's members have changed more than Daryl's anal dressings and even Daryl has gone on to front bands like Head Automatica that make you long for a new Glassjaw album. Well after selling 7" vinyl singles of every song on this album (which could only be played if you purchased a "GJ-Shaped" 45 adapter off of their site), they finally decided to not screw their fans any longer and offer the whole thing as an exclusive mp3 download starting January 1st. StarGazer are an Avant-Garde, Blackened Death Metal band from Australia. So as you might have guessed, some comparrisons to Destroyer 666 could be made... however, StarGazer have taken Technical Death Metal and utilized Non-Traditional Instrumentation and mixed it with an almost Atmospheric Black Metal sound which I guess explains the Avant-Garde tag. The band features members of Portal, Mournful Congregation, Myrddraal, and Cauldron Black Ram. So take from that what you will... however, don't let it cause you to stray. This is an awesome album and I can't believe I got into this band earlier. They have another release called, "The Scream That Tore The Sky" and have even done a split with Arghoslent. Enjoy!

Al-Thawra hail from Chicago, IL and play a twist of Crust Punk with plenty of Hardcore, Doom, Sludge and Middle Eastern  influences. The only thing I can say about this band is that they are definitely a breath of fresh air in this genre that is mainly thought of as untalented, or lo-fi by most. This band has taken elements of all the above-mentioned genres and created something truly unique. Crushing drums create a heaviness that compliments the guitars and angered barking vocals. There's a huge Middle Eastern vibe being used at various parts of the albums and you will definitely get a vibe and almost groove from it to then only have your brains bashed in by crushing Sludge and Doom riff. Fuck! I think I've rode this album's dick hard enough, enjoy!
