Glassjaw are from Long Island, New York and are forefathers of the Emotional Hardcore/Post-Hardcore genre that is so popular and filled with numerous faceless acts today. They have had legal trouble with Roadrunner Records, been signed to Warner Brothers Records, which is now taking over Roadrunner Records (i believe). The band's members have changed more than Daryl's anal dressings and even Daryl has gone on to front bands like Head Automatica that make you long for a new Glassjaw album. Well after selling 7" vinyl singles of every song on this album (which could only be played if you purchased a "GJ-Shaped" 45 adapter off of their site), they finally decided to not screw their fans any longer and offer the whole thing as an exclusive mp3 download starting January 1st. Well here it is... hopefully there will be a full-length soon... and hopefully a full-length bowel movement for Daryl as well! (get it! he has chron's disease)

Birds In Row are a Chaotic Hardcore band from France and kinda remind me of a mix of old Suicide Note and old Kylesa (self-titled era) with a dash of The Hope Conspiracy. This emotionally powered group definitely stick out among Hardcore today with this punch in the face and leave you crying album. Definitely worth a download for those of you longing for the days of when Emotional Hardcore was cool!

A Great Work of Ages

StarGazer are an Avant-Garde, Blackened Death Metal band from Australia. So as you might have guessed, some comparrisons to Destroyer 666 could be made... however, StarGazer have taken Technical Death Metal and utilized Non-Traditional Instrumentation and mixed it with an almost Atmospheric Black Metal sound which I guess explains the Avant-Garde tag. The band features members of Portal, Mournful Congregation, Myrddraal, and Cauldron Black Ram. So take from that what you will... however, don't let it cause you to stray. This is an awesome album and I can't believe I got into this band earlier. They have another release called, "The Scream That Tore The Sky" and have even done a split with Arghoslent. Enjoy!

Nucleus

Dawnbringer, once Death Metal, now Heavy Metal band from Pennsylvania have tightened their belts for their newest release. Featuring Chris Black of Nachtmystium fame, Dawnbringer have tweaked their original sound for something new that can only be described as Heavy Metal with elements of Doom, Stoner, NWOBHM, and even Black Metal. The riff's and guitar work on this album are purely amazing and definitely outshine previous efforts from this band. "Nucleus" will definitely go down as the bands best release so far, so check it out!

Candy Cane/Oranssi Pazuzu Split

Oranssi Pazuzu may have put out one of the most unique Black Metal records in a long time, so of course we've been on pins and needles waiting for new material. That day has finally arrived in the form of a split with fellow Finland natives, Candy Cane. Candy Cane can be described as Avant-Garde Metal... so if you're into Mike Patton stuff, you'll love this. For those of you who don't know, Oranssi Pazuzu are a Psycadelic Black Metal band and have put out possibly one of the most original albums in the last few years when it comes to Black Metal. So this split, even though short, definitely shows you what these two original bands have to offer. Enjoy!

Eparistera Daimones

The year is almost over and 2011 is well upon us... you know that means! Best of 2010! Everyone has their stupid fucking lists. According to the Metal Encyclopedia, the new Triptykon album, "Eparistera Daimones" is the #1 album of the year based on all of the site's reviews of the record. Some super metal fan compiled a list and it's very neat to see what made it and you might find new stuff you didn't know about... like this record for instance. Triptykon features members of Celtic Frost, Dark Fortress and Hellhammer. Triptykon are from Switzerland and play a Doomed Out Blackened Death Metal that will make the walls crumble. It's fucking heavy, dark, and evil. Definitely for any fan of metal. Enjoy!
