Kvelertak

This is the best way to describe this band... take parts Black Metal, Hardcore, Southern Metal, Punk and Sludge and you kinda got what this band is putting out... Black-n-Roll? (no that's not what african americans do when they're on fire) I have no idea what to say about them other than that they're fucking awesome sounding and will appeal to a wide audience. I love the riffs on this record as well as the unique song structure... definitely a breath of fresh air. Kvelertak are from Norway, check out their merch store and buy something faggot!. Enjoy!

Entrails

Swedish Death Metal in the vein of Dismember and Entombed with vocals from Jocke Svensson aka ''Panda Flamenco" of Birdflesh (bassist/backing vocalist). This is total Old School Swedish Death Metal worship from where else but, Sweden. This band was supposedly started back in 1991 and then disbanded until 2008 when the band reformed and recorded a couple of demos and now their debut full length, "Tales From The Morgue". Enjoy!

Scaremaker

So Billy Nocera, creator and owner of Razorback Records decides to join his wife, Vanessa Nocera in creating their own band... with help from Elektrokutioner, drummer from Decrepitaph. This is a fresh take on old school death metal done the old school way. A majority of the song writing, including lyrics are done by Vanessa as she shred's the guitar as well as bass and even some backing vocals on a few tracks. Billy takes care of the main vocal duties. The couple that shreds together stays together! So yeah, awesome stuff like always from Razorback. So stop being a faggot and go over to their site and buy some shit, the first 200 copies of this record come with a toe tag, so enjoy!

Nachtmystium - Black Meddle

So when I first came across Nachtmystium, it was when they released their, "Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1" album. From reviews a lot of people enjoyed their psychedelic take on black metal, but after a few listens it was quickly shoved to the back and forgotten about. They never came to my town on tour, so they didn't come up and even when they did it was usually shot down with negative comments. Then their new album, "Addicts: Black Meddle Pt. 2" dropped and out of curiosity I gave it a listen and to my surprise this album is fucking awesome. They have definitely gone more psychedelic on this release and it vaguely reminds me of one of my favorite black metal bands, Oranssi Pazuzu. The black metal on this record has definitely become more abrasive and yet somewhat a breath of fresh air in the black metal community. This album is definitely avant-garde and psychedelic  in nature, but still black as fuck... So I've included both parts of Black Meddle in this post because after a re-listen of Part 1, I've come to love that album as well. The 3 part epic at the end of it is amazing and the song, "No Funeral" on "Addicts: Black Meddle Pt. 2" is fucking insane. It's definitely worth a listen, even if you've already written off Nachtmystium. Enjoy!

For the Bleak at Heart

Grab that Starter jacket, it's about to get frostbitten in here. Some more black metal for you.

Let's start off with a more shoegazey/ambient black metal band from France. This is a three song EP that completely took me by surprise. I can't really compare this band to any other black metal bands, if you even want to call them that. This is really good stuff. The CD just emits a bleak and pessimistic atmosphere. The last track on the CD is the chick in the band singing, and while I generally have a rule of chicks in metal and not listening to it (close minded about this, so fuck off) she provides a perfect balance to the screaming with her voice. She sings clean, so it's cool. The track reminds me of U2 a bit, if U2 was metal.

Amesoeurs - Ruines Humaines (2006)

01 - Bonheur Ampute
02 - Ruines Humaines
03 - Faiblesse Des Sens

Let's keep this going...

Some good old raw black metal from the United States. I love the harsh vocals on this and love the way the first track starts off with the epic sounds of swords clashing.

Finally we have some pioneers. This happens to be one of my personal favorite albums of all time. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it, but to me it never gets old. This is the true meaning of grym, kvlt, trv, and frostbitten. Hailing from Norway, it's none other than the mighty IMMORTAL.

Immortal - At the Heart of Winter (1999)

01 - Withstand the Fall of Time
02 - Solarfall
03 - Tragedies Blows at Horizon
04 - Where Dark and Light Don't Differ
05 - At the Heart of Winter

Back In Black

So Maryland Death Fest was fucking awesome and after a brief hiatus, we're back in black... Black Metal that is. So here's a few bands that have caught our eye as of late @ Poonangublog. Enjoy... but what's the point when everything will shortly end in a frostbitten black bleak bottomless well of pure despair and torment?
